Beef & Broccoli Stir-Fry
Tender strips of lean beef with broccoli in a savoury sauce. A high-protein, iron-rich dinner ready in 20 minutes.
This takeaway classic is far better, and healthier, made at home. Lean beef strips deliver a big hit of protein and iron, while broccoli adds fibre and crunch, all brought together in a glossy savoury sauce. The trick is high heat and a quick cook so the beef stays tender. Serve over rice or noodles, or on its own for a lower-carb meal.

Ingredients
Makes 2 servings
- Lean beef strips 300 g / 10.5 oz
- Broccoli florets 250 g / 8.8 oz
- Soy sauce 2 tbsp
- Garlic and ginger, minced 1 tbsp
- Cornflour 1 tsp
- Sesame oil 1 tbsp
Method
- Toss the beef strips with the cornflour and 1 tbsp soy sauce.
- Heat the sesame oil in a wok over high heat and sear the beef for 2 to 3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- Add the broccoli with a splash of water and stir-fry for 4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Return the beef, add the garlic, ginger and remaining soy sauce, toss for 1 minute and serve.
Tips
- Slice the beef against the grain for the most tender result.
- Get the wok really hot before adding the beef so it sears rather than steams.
- Add a pinch of chilli or a splash of oyster sauce for more depth.
